John David Orange, born April 16, 1940 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2018 at age 78.. John passed away at home surrounded by family and friends. He resided in Brownsburg, Indiana. Celebration of Life services will be Saturday September 1, 2018 at Connection Pointe Christian Church located in Brownsburg, Indiana. Visitations at 10:00a to 12:00 noon, and the funeral service will be at 12:00 noon. John is survived by his wife, Geraldine Jerri Orange; three daughters, Jayne, Julie, and Tammy; four sons, Brian, Jeff, Brent, and Jimmy; a brother Larry Woodward; a sister Mary Alice Orange; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; Cousin, Jim Cantrell, and many others.

John was retired from General Motors, Division of Allison’s Transmission located in Speedway, Indiana as a Mechanical Designer; John also retired from Midwest Transit located in Whitestown, Indiana. John was also co-owner of Snugs N Hugs Daycare, along with his wife Jerri, located in Brownsburg, Indiana from 1984 until his passing. He loved the daycare children and parents. They were a special part of John’s life.

John earned an Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.  His coworkers voted him the Prestigious Dale Carnegie award at Midwest Transit. John obtained many more professional certificates in engineering.  John was a success at any job he performed with integrity and professionalism.

John was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church located in Brownsburg, Indiana.

John was extremely patriotic and served six (6) years in the National Guard where he was a specialist in marksmanship. John was also a generous man. On numerous occasions he would pay for service men and women’s meals at restaurants; and on many occasions he would tip servers at restaurants with generous tips.

John was Christian man who loved the Lord, his family, friends, neighbors, and home. He was completely devoted to his wife, Jerri, and he loved his grandchildren.

He loved old cars and trucks; woodworking and made several items for family and friends; working in the garden with his wife Jerri was a favorite thing for John. He loved to work out doors doing yard work and mowing grass.

John loved the simple things in life. He loved sitting on the patio on warm sunny days, sipping coffee or tea, chatting with Jerri as they watched the birds, rabbits, squirrels and their neighbor’s Kevin and April Hyde’s dogs and goats.

John was loved by many and will be missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what you are going through. I didn’t know John but he sounds like a wonderful man. Trust in our Lord and he will get you through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    Jerri we loved John and even though we did not see you like we should He had a special place in our heart and we will miss him . John was man who lived his love for the Lord. You were blessed to be married to a man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. Now the Lord has him by his side and I am sure John will be fixing something up there. Love to you and the family you will be in our prayers.
